The Power of Persistence
If you have been reading our posts for some time I believe you would discover that I write about what we ourselves are either going through or already have gone through. This weeks article will shed some light on why this post has been such a long time coming.
It’s obvious that the world is really under tremendous duress as a result of how things have been run over the years. It is also undoubtedly causing serious obstacles for those of us who are trying to pursue our GOD given dream.
I should know because those same obstacles have caused us to take a hardline approach to all we have to do to keep thing running around here.
Sometimes the obstacles can seem insurmountable. But if we apply the correct spiritual principles we can not only overcome the obstacles but we can also experience victory on the other side.
Recently my wife and I sat down to a night at the movies for our date night and watched a lesser known film with Anthony Hopkins called “The Worlds Fastest Indian”
I was thinking it had to do with an Indian tribe or something and I was quite surprised at the angle that was taken. It was the story of Burt Munro a fellow from an obscure place, Invercargill, at the south end of New Zealand, who was obsessed with breaking the worlds speed record on a motorized land bike that was manufactured by Indian Motorbikes.
It was his dream to push the limits of this little Indian at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah to see how fast it will go. The story tells of all the challenges and hundreds of set backs he encountered from equipment failure to people who did not believe in him to the obstacles he faces as he traveled to the US on a boat and finally those he faced at the Bonneville Speedway.
All along his journey he met interesting characters who contributed to his emotional, physical and mental well being as well as those few who inspired a bit of hope.
What this little gem of a movie communicated so loud and clear was the power of persistence. He never gave up even when it seemed all was lost.
When you are following your GOD given dream there is one thing you can be sure of and that is that you will meet with tons of opposition along the way.
It will come from those closest to you as well as from every other direction imaginable. You’ll have set back after set back, equipment failures, disbelievers, doubters, skeptics of all sorts and even dream stealers. Money will run dry, enthusiasm will disappear and drive may even run out. You man even find yourself battling bouts of depression.
But one thing is for sure - If you persist when you feel like you want to throw in the towel, if you will never give in when you feel like you want to die, and instead keep trying by taking help from those who will come in your life at just the right time, you will eventually come to see this GOD given dream you have been given stewardship over come to pass.
Just as the little Indian went on to break the worlds speed record for it’s class, and still holds it today, you will stand in that dream because it’s GOD’s dream.
All HE needs is some one who will say yes even when it seems impossible to everyone else around you and the crowed is yelling no.
The power of persistence will help see you through to the end.
Share with me below what you do to keep pressing on when every one around you is telling you to throw in the towel.
Until next time make sure you fly right and get clsoer to GOD!
